Stonewall Kitchen Breakfast is exactly what its subtitle promises: A Collection of Great Morning Meals. If your definition of a great morning meal is a muffin or smoothie grabbed on the way to work or school, the authors have you covered. If you’re entertaining weekend guests, there are scrumptious dishes and menus to make the planning easy. (The menus have names like Relaxed Sunday Brunch with Friends, Weekend Breakfast with the Kids, Gotta Run Monday, Breakfast in Bed, Meditteranean Breakfast, New York Wake Up, and Holiday Brunch.)
There are muffins and scones, fruit dishes, granola/cereal bars, egg dishes, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes and french toast, waffles, side dishes and spreads, drinks … and even a breakfast salad with bacon, fried eggs, and croutes. Several are recipes that are either quick and simple or able to be made ahead.
Truly, this little book (and it is little, with only 139 pages of recipes and gorgeous photos) covers the basics (toppings for hot cereal, how to scramble an egg) to decadent, need-to-impress-the-hell-out-of-these-people dishes (Lobster Benedict with Meyer Lemon Scallion Butter, and its lighter cousin, Smoked Salmon and Arugula Benedict with Arugula-Lemon Butter).
