Weekend Cooking: A Patriotic Wedding Cake

I didn’t have a Weekend Cooking post that seemed apropos for the 4th of July weekend here in the States … until I saw this photo of a cake my friend Michelle made for a wedding this weekend.  Isn’t this the most adorable cake?

    Oh, man. I somehow forgot your husband was a Yankee fan. Cool by me; I come by it honestly since my dad was from the South Bronx and loved them. Lou Gehrig was his favorite player, so we’re talking legacy, here. If I were from anywhere else, I’d hate ’em; I know I would. Now I want to get a Yankee cake for our family. (God knows I’m not making it.)

    I love it!! Need to show this picture to my mother – she made many wedding cakes, but none as cute as this.
