Kicking Off Thankfully Reading Weekend 2013

Thanksgiving dinner has been eaten, the dishes are in the dishwasher, and football is on the TV. (Go Steelers!) That leaves only one more thing.

No, not shopping … although, I’ll tell ya, Best Buy’s deal of a Kindle Fire for $99 had me seriously considering heading out the door this evening. My Kindle is perfectly fine but it’s one of first ones (it still has the keyboard) and isn’t made anymore. And $99!

But I’ll show some restraint. Instead, it’s time to kick off Thankfully Reading Weekend, hosted by Jenn’s Bookshelves and Literate Housewife!

I love this holiday AND this reading event because it’s so low-key. Even if you have to work during part of the holiday (which I do, tomorrow) or you have out-of-town guests (which I do, in the form of my in-laws), Thankfully Reading is flexible enough to give everyone who wants to the chance to participate.

The Devil in the White CityMy big goal is to finish The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. I’m almost there; I’ve been listening to this on audio. In print, I’m on page 300.

Other than that, no grandiose reading plans. There are a few short books in my pile, so hopefully I’ll get to those in order to try and make my goal of reading 75 books for the year. I’m currently at 61.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! (And one more time for good measure … go Steelers!!!!!)

Thanks for sharing this post!
