This was a picture-perfect holiday weekend, in terms of weather. Simply could not have been more beautiful with sunny skies and low humidity. (Unheard of in these parts for this time of the year!) We spent it at home, a very low-key weekend.
Our plans on Saturday had been to go to a parade and fireworks, but instead we opted for a visit to our local Zoo. It’s a small zoo; you can easily see everything within an hour. Betty is enamored with the zoo’s main attraction, a Siberian Tiger, a female named Ashley.
We also got a big kick out of the antics of this Toe-Toed Sloth, who was literally hanging out. He was lazier than we were!
And then on the way home, a stop at the farm. I bought carrots, cucumbers, patty pan squash, zucchini, broccoli, brussels sprouts, yellow squash, tomatoes, eggplant, and onion.
We also had local corn on the cob and local portobello mushrooms, which aren’t pictured here because we grilled them as our 4th of July dinner. Desserts was fresh strawberries, blueberries, and grapes – also not pictured because we’re almost done them. We’ve been snacking on them throughout the weekend.
And today, Betty and I went to church while The Dean and Boo stayed home. Afterwards we again hung out by the inflatable pool and I made veggie fajitas and tacos for dinner.
