Fall Readathon: The All-in-One Post

Readathon - Day and Night

Happy Read-a-thon Day, everyone!

Regular blog readers know that I absolutely love Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon. And I’d love nothing more than to spend today reading, ‘cept other weekend responsibilities and some pressing projects are beckoning. They also kind of took precedence over any Read-a-thon preparations, so I am winging it. Still, I’m going to fit in as much quality book time as I can possibly get.

I’m on page 125 of David Levithan’s incredible new novel Two Boys Kissing, so I’ll be starting off the morning with that. I wanted to finish and review this in time for National Coming Out Day yesterday, but that didn’t happen, so that’ll have to be another time. But, wow … this one is simply fantastic (and, I might add, it’s a perfect Read-a-thon book because it’s fairly short and it’s an engrossing read).

Also in my pile:
RAVEN GIRL, by Audrey Niffenegger  started and finished!
THE FIRST 90 DAYS; PROVEN STRATEGIES FOR GETTING UP TO SPEED FASTER AND SMARTER, by Michael D. Watkins (because I’m starting a new job on Monday!)
THE GREAT GATSBY, by F. Scott Fitzgerald
MOTHER LOVE, poems by Elizabeth Cohen
THE GLEN ROCK BOOK OF THE DEAD, by Marion Winik started and finished!

I also have I’M LOOKING THROUGH YOU: GROWING UP HAUNTED by Jennifer Finney Boylan on CD in the car, which I’ll be listening to as I do errands and whatnot. I’m on Chapter 12 of that.

So. This post is to serve as:

a) my Read-a-thon signup post
b) my Kick Off Post (as we head into Hour 4) and
c) my post for any and all updates throughout the event.

Happy Read-a-thoning!

Update, Hour 12, 7 p.m
I finished the last 75 pages of Two Boys Kissing and I also finished Raven Girl, which is 80 pages.
Total pages read = 155
Total books started and finished = 1
Total time spent reading: 2 hours
Total time spent listening to audiobook: 30 minutes

Update, Hour 16, 11:30 p.m.

Am fading fast and calling it a night. I’m also getting a headache.
I started and finished The Glen Rock Book of the Dead by Marion Winik, who is one of my favorite authors.
This brings my total pages read to 263.
Total books started and finished = 2
Total time spent reading = probably around 4.5 hours.

Hope you had a great Read-a-Thon!
