Bloggiesta Update #1

How is everyone doing with their Bloggiesta goals?  From the blogs I’ve been reading, it looks like many of us are doing great!

Things are moving along here … somewhat. I’m not keeping a minute-by-minute accounting of my time, so my best guess is that I’ve done approximately 6.5 hours of Bloggiesta-ing.  Here’s what I’ve done:

1. Clean up my labels and tags.  Goodness, this one is a particularly thankless task, isn’t it? I’m considering this one done for now, because I could probably spend another 6 hours on just this alone.  It’s good enough for the time being.

3. Figure out how to create Pages in Blogger.  OK, that was easier than when I’d attempted this previously.  I made my first page, which is the books I read and reviewed in 2009.

4. Write reviews.  Reading isn’t exactly a Bloggiesta task (or is it?) but this morning I finished the last 20 pages of Girl Zines: Making Media, Doing Feminism by Alison Piepmeier and wrote up the review. I also linked up my review of The Killing of Mindi Quintana with the listing in the sidebar.

Last night, I read 147 posts and today I’ve read 106.  I think I’ve left comments on 4 new-to-me blogs (the Bloggiesta feed is great for this … not to mention, I might add, a little bit dangerous for one’s Google Reader). I haven’t kept track of how many comments I’ve left on blogs already in my Google Reader, which sadly, I just realized is now up to 671 subscriptions.  (And I have been unsubscribing from some partial feed blogs.)

That sure doesn’t seem like 6 hours of blogging, does it? Betty and I were out this afternoon at the library and the farmer’s market, so that ate up some Bloggiesta time.  Let’s see what the evening hours bring ….

Labels is a tedious task, isn’t it? I had troubles with that a few months ago when I was consolidating a book blog and a travel blog–wasn’t sure how to handle labels for locations (places I’ve been and places I’ve read).

671 subscriptions??? I have about 100 and still can’t keep up!

That’s fantastic! I’m doing really shabbily, since I’m still behind on regular blogging, but I think I’ll cancel plans tomorrow and crank. Motivated by a combination of you and guilt.
